movement meditation.
Time and place to be announced.
THREE
DAY MEDITATION RETREAT
For
those who would like to develop a meditation practice, a three day
retreat can be an intense and wonderful opportunity to learn and
anchor the basics of the practice. For those who already have a
practice, a three day retreat is an opportunity to deepen your practice
in ways that you cannot when you are balancing your practice with outer
world demands.
7 PM Thurs. Feb. 4 - 4 PM
Sun. Feb. 7, 2010
$250.00 - meals and accommodation included
INTRODUCTION TO INNER CHRISTIANITY
RETREAT
Many of
us who were raised in a Christian tradition have moved away from the
faith because it doesn't speak to us, because it doesn't feel inclusive
enough, because it has been used too much as an oppressive force,
because....... you fill in the blank. This 3 day retreat seeks to
introduce you to the ancient inner path of Christianity, a path that
doesn't focus on dogma, but instead focuses on deepening your
experiential awareness of the Divine and on releasing that which
separates you from the Divine. It seeks to help you find a way
back to your spiritual Self, within the Christian tradition.
Jesus
proclaimed "I and
the Father are one," (Jn. 10.30)
indicating that the union of God and man is attainable. For the
Christian following the inner path, the goal is to come to understand
this and experience this as fully as possible. Great Christian
mystics through the ages - like the Desert Fathers and Mothers, St.
Teresa of Avilla, St. John of the Cross, St. Francis of Assissi to name
a few - have succeeded on this path, helping us to see that it is
possible, and giving us beautiful writings to guide us.
This
retreat combines discussion, teaching and practice to introduce seekers
to this wonderfully transformative inner path.
7 PM Thurs., Mar. 4 - 4 PM Sun, Mar. 7, 2010
$250.00 - meals and accommodation included
WEEKLY MEDITATION CLASS
For those who want to learn how to meditate or develop their meditation
practice, we will be offering a new weekly class in the new year.
This class runs for 10 weeks, with an option to continue
if people are interested.
Weekly
classes focus on the basics of concentration and awareness meditation,
and with the experiences and pitfalls that one can encounter during
practice. It is a combination of practice and discussion. Learning
to meditate in a group can be inspiring and supportive, much like the
support that geese get from one another when they fly in V formation -
our practice carries others along, and we are bouyed by their practice
as well. All who attend say that meditating in the weekly
class is a
different experience than meditating on their own, and that it gives
them the push to keep their practice going through the rest of the
week.
$100.00/ 10 weeks
Beginning Thurs., January 28th, 2010
12:00-1:00 PM
